Ever wondered what happens to your waste after the skip is collected? Join us on a journey through our recycling process and discover how we turn rubbish into resources.

Collection and Transport

Once your skip is full, our drivers collect it using specialist vehicles. The skip is transported to our nearest waste transfer station, where the real work begins.

Sorting and Separation

At the transfer station, skips are emptied and the contents sorted:

  1. Initial inspection – Hazardous items are identified and removed
  2. Mechanical sorting – Conveyor systems separate materials by size
  3. Manual picking – Workers identify recyclables on the sorting line
  4. Magnetic separation – Ferrous metals are extracted
  5. Eddy current separation – Non-ferrous metals like aluminium are recovered

Material Destinations

Each material type has a different destination:

  • Wood → Biomass energy plants or chipboard manufacturers
  • Metals → Steel mills and foundries
  • Concrete/rubble → Crushing plants for aggregate production
  • Green waste → Composting facilities
  • Plastics → Recycling plants for reprocessing
  • Residual waste → Energy-from-waste facilities
